VIDEOHOLICA 2010 will present a series of video art projections and exhibitions and will make presentations of well-known international video art forums and honored video artists in parallel with discussions concerning video art topics.

In 2010, CologneOFF - Cologne Online Film Festival is celebrating it 5th anniversary - a good reason to try the new festival concept as a networked festival, including a networked jury, networked contributions and a series of networked screenings between September and December 2010 and beyond.

Presenting a new forum for the distribution and presentation of digital movies, Exit Art is seeking submissions of “digimovies” (digitally-produced movies in video format) in any genre – such as feature-length movies, shorts, documentaries, fiction, non-fiction, animated, etc. – for screening in Exit Underground, a new multi-media event space below Exit Art’s main gallery.

The most noteworthy new introduction at ARCOmadrid_ 2010 is the focus on Los Angeles, one of the world’s epicentres for art right now, as the fair’s special invited guest. This is a new twist to its Panorama section, shifting from its usual focus on a country to a single city. The idea is present a more homogeneous portrait of what’s happening in a specific urban area that is, in itself, one of the major art capitals of the USA. It is L.A.’s dynamism energy and creative diversity that has situated it at the forefront of the world’s art market.

2010 has been synonymous with past images of the future. Writers and commentators throughout the 20th century strove to depict 2010 as a shining example of a future framed by technological progress and social harmony. But as 2010 draws nearer it is clear that global society is neither the utopia nor the dystopia traditionally presented in these fictions, architectures and theories. The future, it seems, is experiencing an identity crisis.

For more than 20 years, the association MAC2000 : Manifestation d’Art Contemporain (contemporary art event) has stood up for today’s creation, by organizing each year in Paris, an original event : MACparis (former MAC2005, 06, 07...). Since 2005, Hervé Bourdin, an artist and administrator of the Regional Contemporary Art Fund of Paris and its suburbs, is the chairman of the association. He has gathered a small team, each with complementary skills, who work for a greater acknowledgement of the event and the artists it stands up for.
