- AIRBRUSH :
IS A MISLEADING TITLE if we were about to write a text considering by
what means Yvana Samandova starts or ends her paintings.
Usually :
An airbrush is an air-operated tool that spits various media in the
form of a mist, by a process of nebulization.
When we write about her procedure, it is something else :
“Beginning means that part from which one would start first, a line or
a road that has a beginning in either of the opposite directions… and
from which each thing would best be originated.”
So, in our text, her procedure is a standard hand-operated painter’s
paintbrush, held few centimeters away from the canvas… and as the
painting “in the air” starts, searching for the first stoke, line,
point… the movements of the brush are making no visible traces for
everybody else watching, by chance or in a purpose – except for the
painter herself. It looks like an air guitar in work, air drums, or
any other air instrument. Minute after minute after minute, the “air
painting”, painting in the mind, painting “in the hand”… a burning,
initiating fuse... goes on, before the brush touches the canvas for
the first time.
That’s the point when the blast takes over, the flow of uninhibited
associations, thoughts, actions, hand or hair movements, strokes,
punches... actually, it doesn’t matter what it is… are covering many
times the first and later strokes. Just to end, the process, later,
much later… with the same “air movements”. Hand, hair, or eye…
movements.
It is just plain bARuT !
